Juliet Desailly is a long-time resident of south London, and her background is in primary education and writing educational material. Although she started out teaching drama, English and music in secondary schools and has also been involved in theatre-in education and community theatre, since the mid-1980s she has mainly taught in primary schools and has also run training courses and worked in an advisory capacity within the field of education.
From 2001 to 2004, she was deputy head of a Sydenham primary school, and since then she has been a freelance educational consultant specialising in cross-curricular links, planning for a creative curriculum and SEAL (social and emotional aspects of learning). She is a member of the Department of Early Childhood and Primary Education at the Institute of Education.
Her first children’s novel Ma’at’s Feather was published in July 2008.
