Juliet has written a large amount of educational material, including teachers' notes for a television music programme, two series of Infant History for BBC Radio, and materials for the current DCSF's 'Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning' (SEAL) resource. She also contributed sample lessons and a videoed lesson for the Excellence and Enjoyment materials on integrating key aspects of learning and social and emotional aspects of learning into the curriculum.

Cross-curricular Lesson Ideas based on Ma’at’s Feather A story set in Ancient Egypt

These materials are designed to accompany the book Ma’at’s Feather A story set in Ancient Egypt by Juliet Desailly. (Published by The Book Guild Ltd, Pavilion View, 19 New Road, Brighton BN1 1UF. ISBN 978 1 84624 273 1)

The book tells the story of Qen, a boy who lives in ancient Egypt and is designed for Key Stage 2 children.

The materials provide over 30 creative, cross-curricular lesson ideas based on the story, many of which would fit comfortably into the Literacy Hour and others of which support teaching and learning in the foundation subjects.

Each lesson idea has parallel learning objectives in two or more subject areas and uses creative, enquiry-based approaches such as role play, hypothesis, debate and research. Lessons include a strong emphasis on paired or group work and build skills in social and emotional learning.
